Focus On Complete Turn-Key Solutions

Organize your business by a theme, by offering a one-stop shop for everything that pertains to the theme, to build long-term, lasting success on the Internet.  No longer think in terms of isolated lines of products or services.

In your customer's mind, you have to become the best solution provider for the entire range of problems they have... for the entire theme they seek to learn more about. People online are not looking just for one information product or one item. They are looking for complete solutions. For example:

  • Instead of selling just an information product on how to start a mail order business, offer an information product along with mailing lists, product ideas, a complete product, and more.
  • Instead of selling just a computer like everyone else is doing, do something more complete. If you sell computers to businesses, package the computer with every piece of software the businesses you cater to will need...And adjust the price appropriately. Since software in general has a lower cost to the supplier than the computer hardware you will be able to offer turn-key solutions while increasing your profit margins.
  • If you sell camping equipment, offer the items individually, but also come up with turn-key packages your customers will need of the different items.

Figure out how to make your products turn-key for the buyers. You are the expert...Help them make the total decision while increasing your sales and profits at the same time!

Avoid trying to occupy "a market for a certain product or service".  Instead, occupy the minds of a specific, clearly defined, target audience. For the fastest start for your online business, choose a target audience of people that are like you, people whose problems you know. Once you have found the target audience you want to serve, pick a theme that is central to their lives... and you are close to defining the ideal theme for your web site.  Then occupy that theme area as completely as possible. Be available for them to solve any problem they may have on the way to satisfying their needs.

Your Internet business will grow to the degree that you find people who are loyal to you, like your approach, and, most importantly, are able to satisfy their needs through the use of your product or service.

To provide a range of products and services that will be desired by the target group, you need to find out the range of problems or frustrations they experience.  You need to find out what their needs are.  Then you must find or create the best solutions to those problems so that you can satisfy the customers' needs.

For example, let's assume the target audience is medical doctors.  Ask, "what are the most prevalent needs?" You may find out that a doctor's biggest problem is filling his practice with enough new patients to accomplish his desired income goals.  The theme of your website may be:

"This Web site helps you, the medical practitioner, market yourself more effectively so you achieve the income goals you need and desire."

Since this Target Group is relatively small (in terms of absolute numbers), but has a high-income, your site could sell highly priced products and services:

  • Books ($50 and up)
  • Audio tapes ($35 and up)
  • Videos ($100 and up)
  • Teletraining ($50+ per conference call)
  • Seminars ($500 - $5000 a seat)
  • Courses ($1000 - $3000)
  • Registration in a physician's database on the Net ($100/month)
  • Consulting services ($250/hr)

See how each solution builds on top of the other? See how they help your doctors move from an empty waiting room (problem) to a full waiting room (objective) --  and substantially closer to the doctor's objective of financial security?
